rooting facility. For those of you who wish to have your cuttings rooted, we now
have this facility wherein we can root plumeria 12 months of the year. The greenhouse
is equipped with over 12,0000 Watts of growlights as well as a heating and cooling system
controlled by thermostats. The facility is kept at optimum temperature year round.
These pictures were taken on December 24, 2001. There are literally hundreds of flower
stalks on them at the present time with several already if full bloom. This particular growlight
configuration tends to bring out blooms even better than in nature. The cuttings are receiving
many hours of intense light each day. Plumeria cuttings love this atmosphere for rooting.
In those rare occasions,(not more than a handfull) where a particular variety is very difficult
to root, we graft them.
We try to stay away from grafting anymore than we absolutely have to due to the rather
unsightly scar left in the stalk
of the tree. Plumeria rooting is just like anything else
in life, no one is successful 100% of the time.
The range of difficulty in rooting plumeria runs from the very simplest to root "Aztec Gold"
cutting, (they will root laying on the ground) to the almost impossible
to root "Dwarf Singapore White".
