Travelling to Maui

This is a totally unsolicited recommendation for a wonderful place to stay while in paradise on Maui, Hawaii. As a traveller to Hawaii on many many ocassions I am in a position to offer a credible opinion of accomodations and the role they play while visiting Hawaii.

Over the years I have stayed at the Hiltons, the Hyatts and other luxury hotels and had a very enjoyable time. However, my many trips have taught me that there is a better way to see the "true Hawaii". First off, if you are going to Hawaii to see God's most perfect tropical creation then you will spend very little time in your room. If your plans include a lot of time in your room, Florida is much closer and has many many beautiful resorts for you to enjoy with great pools and excellent beaches. I am a native Floridian and am an avid beachgoer.

The room you need in Hawaii needs to be clean, conveniently located to where you plan to visit and should definitely have a "true" touch of the islands. If you want the real feel of the islands, one of the very best examples is the Makai Inn. Dollar for dollar you cannot find a better value anywhere in Hawaii.

(Pardon my luggage on the couch)

We are not talking about 4 Star luxury here, we are talking about quaint, natural charm of the islands. The pictures I took speak for themselves. No television, no telephone and no air conditioning. The breezes in Hawaii are better than air conditioning. They have free WI-FI internet connection, which I found to work quite well.

You do not receive "turn down" service from a maid each night or even the bed clothes changed daily or so. You don't get that at home so why do you need it in your room? What I am saying here is that there is no luxury, but everything is quite adequate to get the feel of the islands. No beach on premises but a very nice seawall with a gorgeous view of the island of Lanai.

There is a small mall and other stores within walking distance. The parking lot for your car is just steps awway from your room and there is no addtional charge for parking. Now comes the fun part. What does all of this cost you? My room was $115 per night and that included all appropriate taxes. A simple $115 per night without adding on daily parking fees, valet charges as compared to the $325 plus parking and taxes at other resorts is quite a diference.

.

Be sure and tell them Alan sent you. You will be glad you stayed there. I could tell you what you simply must see while on Maui but that is for a different time and situation.
